Kakasbal's
Bizarre Trivia...
For now this will be a simple list of strange facts. If it
grows into something bigger and larger
(and knowing that strange information clings to me like static,
it probably will) I will organize it a little
bit more thoroughly, but we'll get to that when it happens.
I will continue adding stuff as I recall it.
If you have any little giblits of info you'd like to contribute
e-mail me.
-
Force of Tanks Shells: The force behind an average tank shell is
about the same as a locomotive hitting the space of a dime at 70 mph.
-
Agricultural Revolution: Before the Agricultural Revolution
in the 1700's the average steer sold for slaughter weighed about 370 pounds,
after breeding the best specimins of cattle the average weight increased
to 840 pounds. With sheep the weight increased from 28 to 100 pounds.
-
Woodpecker homing device: Woodpeckers have a strange sense that
leads them to the aluminum gutter behind my bedroom and causes them to
rapidly bang their head on it. This sense seems most active on Saturday
mornings.
-
SPAM: It stands for Single Portion Army Meal.
-
Prehistoric Fishing: Tahitians used to catch fish by putting
an intoxicating mixture of chemicals into the streams and then simply picking
the fish up at their leisure after their prey floated to the surface.
-
White Meat Isn't Any Good: Fijian natives complained that
the meat of white men was too salty and not tender enough. According
to the Fijians a European seaman isn't even fit to eat. Conversely
one Tahitian chief claimed that roasted white men tasted like a ripe banana.
Now you know...
-
Methods of Killing Fish: Fuegians (don't ask me what area
a Fuegian comes from) ate their fish raw after killing it by biting the
fishes head off behind the gills. They would then proceed to eath
the whole thing from head to tail.
